Alison Hopwood
Hi, I am Alison.

I originally established Independent Kids - Occupational Therapy in 2008.

I have worked with children for over 30 years. I feel so privileged to have had the experience of working with some amazing therapists and meeting so many inspiring children and families throughout my career.
I originally trained at the University of Sydney and returned there to do my Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Occupational Therapy. I am passionate about training and acquiring new skills.

My best teachers are the children and families I work with. I believe a client centred approach is the key to the success of what we do. My aim is to assist children, young adults and their families reach their full potential, whether that is at home, school, the community childcare or transitioning into the workforce. I have long standing experience in sensory issues and their related behaviours, social skills, planning (praxis) and learning abilities. I use many different approaches but strongly believe that any successful therapeutic intervention comes from strength in relationship.

I am incredibly lucky to work within such a talented and caring team and so many wonderful children and their families.
